Cheryl Sebrell I'm a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. After eight years of teaching elementary music, I obtained my certification in gifted education, and taught in elementary and middle school gifted programs for 22 years. In 2007, I obtained my certification in high school English when I made the move to New Tech. I love the New Tech philosophy and preach it to anyone who will listen - this may be why I was made New Tech Advocate. As Advocate, I try to help new teachers understand the New Tech model and Project Based Learning. In 2008, I was one of three teachers in North Carolina selected as a New Tech Exemplary teacher.
Thanks to an opportunity to be part of the Golden Leaf Early Adopters, I've had a chance to experience many new technologies. In 2011, I received a fellowship from the Rural Schools and Community Trust to study British literature in Great Britain. In that same year, I was honored to be selected as Warren County Teacher of the Year. In 2013 I was one of twelve NC teachers named a Bright Ideas Teacher of the Week. Through grant writing, I've helped WNT acquire nearly $40,000 in funding for projects.
My passions include writing, acting, travel, reading, Tar Heel basketball, gardening, philanthropy, and New Tech!
